A Brunswick judge has resigned after he was charged this month with drunken driving outside Wacko’s Gentlemen’s Club in Jacksonville.

In his resignation letter, Georgia Superior Court Judge Robert W. Guy said it had been an honor to serve. “I will be forever grateful to my Judicial friends in this Circuit and across the state,” the letter states.

Guy, 48, based out of Camden County, also was charged with refusing to take a DUI test after his Mercedes-Benz hit a parked truck about 2 a.m. Oct. 7 outside the Southside club on Emerson Street, police say.

He appeared impaired, witnesses said, according to an arrest report. He tried to leave, but Wacko’s staff escorted him inside the club. The driver handed over his keys, and staff kept an eye on him until police arrived, the report says.

Guy presided over cases in Wayne, Camden, Glynn, Appling and Jeff Davis counties, according to the Wayne County clerk of court. His arraignment is set for Tuesday in the Duval County Courthouse.
