A new roundabout will open Friday at Post Street and Old Roosevelt Boulevard, the latest roadway improvement in the Murray Hill area.
The Florida Department of Transportation said the acorn-shaped interchange will alleviate congestion and improve safety for commuters in the Murray Hill and Riverside neighborhoods.
The road has been closed four months to build the roundabout.
The new design is expected to reduce rail incidents by at least 78% with enhancements like updated signage, lighting upgrades and removal of traffic signals.

The roundabout, which crosses railroad tracks, also has pedestrian gates at crossings and camera detection systems with audible alerts to tell people about oncoming trains.
The construction project began in early June, forcing drivers to detour on Post Street from Cassat Avenue to Old Roosevelt Boulevard.
The $6.5 million project also includes rail safety and resurfacing on Post Street from Cassat Avenue to Old Roosevelt Boulevard. The rest is expected to be finished by mid-2026, FDOT said.
