A proposal for renovating Jacksonville’s Metropolitan Park will be on display Thursday at an open house at the Main Library on North Laura Street.

Designers and city officials will show off the proposed design and answer questions about it. The open house is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m.

The design is the result of public input from previous town hall meetings that began in early 2024 to assess what features the public wanted at the four-decades-old waterfront park.

The proposed redesign was shown at a town hall in December, showcasing a lot of trees, an updated version of the big central lawn and changes for better drainage and protection from flooding.

No date has been set for the renovation, which must be approved by the city and put out to bid for construction.
