Green Cove Springs ends curbside recycling

Green Cove Springs is ending its curbside recycling program.

The city will make its final pickup later this month, on Sept. 26.

Officials said the program had low participation, largely due to changes by the county.

Last October, Clay County ended its own recycling program due to high costs.

Green Cove City Council members said the end of the recycling program will allow the city to save money as officials work to finalize this fiscal year’s budget.

The council did not release a detailed plan yet for where recyclable materials should be taken after collections cease.
