Murder on the Orient Express

Amelia Community Theatre | Amelia Island

Agatha Christie’s classic mystery, Murder on the Orient Express, unfolds aboard a snowbound train, where famed detective Hercule Poirot must try to solve the murder before the killer strikes again. Why not make it a night out and grab dinner in Fernandina Beach before (or after) the show? The intimate Amelia Community Theatre has been part of Nassau County’s arts scene fore more than four decades.

207 Cedar St., Fernandina Beach; Thursday and Friday shows: 7:30 p.m.; Saturday matinee: 2 p.m.; Tickets: $25; $10 for students. Tickets and more info.

Flow

WJCT Studios | Downtown Jacksonville

Missing Sun-Ray Cinema and the San Marco Theater? Get your local indie theater fix with a special (and inexpensive) afternoon screening of Flow—a beautifully animated, wordless film that follows a cat as it journeys through a post-flood world — inside the studios of Jacksonville’s public media station, WJCT. Winner of this year’s Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, Flow is visually stunning and deeply moving (bring some tissues🥹), blending adventure with a quiet reflection on resilience, friendship and the natural world.

100 Festival Park Ave.; Popcorn and cash bar available; Doors: 1:30; Film starts at 2 p.m.; Tickets: $5; More info.

The Pop Out: A Black Music Month Concert

Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park | La Villa

This weekend is your last chance to check out The Pop-Out concert series at LaVilla’s historic Lift Ev’ry Voice & Sing Park. Jacksonville has been moving to the rhythm all Black Music Month long, and it all wraps up with one last evening of vendors, food trucks and “celebration of Black artistry, community, and the enduring power of music.” It’s a laid-back, family-friendly event. Just bring a lawn chair and your dancing shoes.
