Downtown Jacksonville will be the only place to see the city’s July 4th fireworks display, instead of up to five sites used in recent years.

“We are moving back to the traditional Downtown location only to return to the norm and reduce expenses,” City Hall spokesperson Phil Perry said in an email. “The expanded locations were started during the pandemic to make it easier for residents to attend when public gatherings were not happening.”

City officials say this year’s Independence Day fireworks will begin at 9 p.m., launched from the Acosta Bridge and east of the Main Street bridge.

Prime viewing sites will be along the Northbank and Southbank Riverwalks along the St. Johns River. Parking will be available at the following sites:

  • Duval County Public Schools parking lot at 1701 Prudential Drive.

  • Under the Acosta Expressway at 901 Museum Circle.
  • Northbank.
  • Former Jacksonville Landing Lot Parking at 21 E. Coastline Drive.

The annual celebration requires the Main Street and Acosta bridges to be shut down for fireworks launching, running from 8:45 to 10:30 p.m., city officials said.

Sites in previous years included Ray Greene Park, The Avenues Mall, Trinity Baptist Church and Ed Austin Regional Park.
