An Orange Park man has been arrested on charges of using a computer to solicit a child for unlawful sexual conduct and traveling to meet a child for sexual purposes, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Joshua David Dice, 35, remains behind bars on $225,000 bail, jail records show.
Dice taught at Calvary Christian Academy in Middleburg and was arrested Wednesday outside a gym on Blanding Boulevard, his arrest report states. Details about what led to the arrest are blacked out in the report.
Pastor Ken Pledger said Dice’s charges are unrelated to activities at the church or school, and they are cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office on its investigation.
Pledger’s statement says Dice was terminated immediately and no longer has any affiliation with the church or school.
This is the second teacher arrested in recent years who worked for Calvary Christian Academy, according to Jacksonville Today news partner News4Jax.
Caitlin Rose Crum, 26, of Jacksonville, was arrested in 2022 on charges of producing child porn and sexual assault, having met the young victim while delivering pizzas to the school in 2021, according to her arrest report.
Crum then became a teacher at the school, with the child as her student, and traveled to meet at a relative’s home in Nassau County.
