Friendship Fountain sprank back to life Thursday after a couple weeks of maintenance, just as the Jax-history themed playground next to it prepares to open.

The playground will have its grand opening Saturday during Easter Eggstravaganza, a free festival including egg hunts, photos with the Easter Bunny, crafts, food trucks and more.

The Eggstravaga will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The playground includes a climbable version of La Trinité, the ship of the ill-fated French colonizer Jean Ribault, who was executed by the Spanish near Jacksonville in the 1500s.

The fountain had been closed since April 1 for painting and mechanical upgrades.
