Friday

Dinner Party

Ft. Mose | St. Augustine

Three artists who made notable contributions to rapper (and Super Bowl halftime show star) Kendrick Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning album To Pimp A Butterfly – the pianist Robert Glasper, the producer and multi-instrumentalist Terrace Martin and the saxophonist Kamasi Washington – perform as Dinner Party as part of the Fort Mose Jazz & Blues Series on Friday. Aside from an EP and a full-length album as a supergroup, individually each artist has released critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated – and in the case of Glasper: Grammy winning – solo efforts. Mixing serious jazz chops with affinities for R&B, neo-soul, hip hop and more, these three artists perhaps more than anyone else represent today’s genre-averse music landscape, and, to borrow from Ornette Coleman, the shape of jazz to come. Show starts at 7 p.m. (Gates open at 6.) Tickets and more info.

Saturday

A Love Letter to All Things Surf

Ink Factory | Jacksonville Beach

An exhibition of new work by local surfer, musician and visual artist Trent “Tarpits” Phillips is on view on Friday at Jax Beach brewery and taproom Ink Factory. The opening event includes performances by Beaches bard Howdy and Phillips’ rock band Wounded Gull. 8 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Free to attend. More info.
