Volunteers managed to clean up more than 1,000 pounds of garbage across eight spots in St. Johns County as part of the county’s Trash Bash beach cleanup at the end of January. The project, a partnership with St. Johns River State College, is part of the county’s “Get Hooked” anti-litter initiative. The county will host another cleanup ahead of sea turtle nesting season in May.
