Popular Silkie’s restaurant closes in Springfield

A popular Springfield restaurant owned by former Top Chef contestant Kenny Gilbert has closed.

The last day for Silkie’s Chicken and Champagne Bar’s was Monday.

Gilbert says on social media that reduced customers, inflation and employee turnover played a role in the business’ closing.

The restaurant opened in November 2020. 

Gilbert thanked the community and staff for the memories over the last few years.

He did not say what’s next for him, but according to his website, he recently opened a restaurant in Miami.
