The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Friday released a hate-filled manifesto from the racist who shot three Black people to death last summer at a Dollar General store in the Grand Park neighborhood.

The white man from Clay County left behind a 27-page manifesto when he set out to kill Black people Aug. 26. He killed Angela Carr, Jerrald Gallion and Anolt “AJ” Laguere and then shot himself to death at the Dollar General on Kings Road.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters had previously said his department would release the gunman’s writings once the investigation ended.

He said in a statement Friday that since the investigation is now complete the writings pose no threat to the integrity of the investigation. He said he released the writings in the name of transparency.

“Members of the public deserve to determine, firsthand, that this manifesto is filled with the rantings of an isolated, hateful, madman whose disgusting ideology is wholly inconsistent with the belief structure of the Jacksonville community,” Waters said in the statement.

Jacksonville Today chose not to publish any portions of the manifesto. The document is posted in the public records section of the Sheriff’s Office website.

The store had been closed since the shooting but reopened last Friday.
