Duval awarded $32 million to renourish beaches

Duval County has been awarded more than $32 million to renourish about 10 miles of its Atlantic Ocean beachfront.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Shore Protection Project grant will renourish critically eroded beachfront in Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville beaches. That stretch runs from the St. Johns River to the Duval-St. Johns County line.

Operations will start soon. The Corps of Engineers will use its social media channels to advise the public of the start date and progress.
