A young couple recently moved to Jacksonville, planning to buy a starter home. Instead, they find themselves still in a rented apartment 18 months later and now facing a 30% increase in their rent. 

And though rent is now so high that they are cutting back on groceries, the dream of home ownership feels increasingly out of reach.

Meanwhile, international companies are snapping up starter homes in Jacksonville, sight unseen, with all-cash offers and waived inspections. 

Jacksonville’s competitive housing market got a national spotlight on this week’s 60 Minutes from CBS News.
