Our Number of the Week is the amount of money paid to date for the ongoing state road and bridge projects in Duval County: more than three-quarters of a trillion dollars.

$772,245,200.67

The Florida Department of Transportation lists 43 active contracts in Duval County. They cover everything from road resurfacing to bridge construction, and they’re at various stages in the process. The oldest active project, the I-95/I-295 North interchange, began a whopping nine years ago. So far, it’s cost more than $191 million. (That is over budget). The FDOT expects to wrap up that project next month.
