Bad Outdoorsmen: Katie Hargrave & Meredith Laura Lynn

Crisp-Ellert Art Gallery | St. Augustine

Artist Meredith Laura Lynn leads a tour of Bad Outdoorsmen, her exhibit of works exploring the impact of conservationists John Muir, John Audubon and Billy Bartram. Lynn, in tandem with artist Katie Hargrave, created Bad Outdoorsmen using physical objects – including tents, coolers and postcards – as sculptural bases, manipulating them with photographic imagery to examine our relationship to public land. The tour will be held during St. Augustine’s First Friday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m. It’s free to attend. More info.

Honoring Joan Mitchell

MOCA | Downtown Jacksonville

The exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art include a new celebration of the work of the influential abstract painter Joan Mitchell. “Her approach to abstraction is distinguished for its physicality, daring use of color, and direct connections to her everyday experiences of landscape, people, poetry, music, and even her beloved dogs,” according to MOCA. While you’re there, check out Spectral Subjects, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s interactive Project Atrium installation, and UNF student artist-in-residence Dustin Sims’ metallic animal sculptures in Nature Re: Wired. The museum is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. all weekend. Admission is free on Saturdays. More info.
