Drivers should expect some delays Downtown for the next month as A. Philip Randolph Boulevard is detoured at East Bay Street for a construction project.

JEA is continuing to extend two 20-inch chilled water mains along the boulevard at Bay Street, south of the Hart Bridge Expressway.

The new piping will supply chilled water to commercial buildings from a central plant, using underground supply and return distribution pipes. The chilled water is then used by each building to provide air conditioning through their on-site air-handling units, the JEA says.

Traffic traveling east on Bay Street can turn left on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard. Follow the detour signs around EverBank Stadium to reach the Hart Bridge.

The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 9, before the start of the Jaguars’ football season.
