Drainage improvements coming in St. Augustine

A drainage improvement project is coming soon at King Street and Florida A1A in Downtown St. Augustine.

The Florida Department of Transportation has set up an  open house from 4 to 6 p.m. April 18 so residents can learn more about the project.

The $4.2 million project includes replacing a drainpipe on King Street under Avenida Menendez. Other improvements include a new concrete masonry wall system, metal and concrete stanchions with guardrails, sidewalk upgrades, bicycle path and new landscaping.

The open house will include FDOT staff and engineers. It is scheduled in the Alcazar Room in City Hall, 75 King St.

Drivers can expect detours in the project area as it enters its final phases later this year, the FDOT said.
