St. Paul’s By-The-Sea | Jacksonville Beach
Renowned pianist Clayton Stephenson performs at St. Paul’s By-The-Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach as part of the Beaches Fine Arts Series on Friday. The first Black finalist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the 25-year-old, who’s pursuing a master’s in piano performance from the New England Conservatory and a simultaneous bachelor’s in economics from Harvard, has performed with notable institutions including the Calgary Philharmonic, Chicago Sinfonietta, and the Fort Worth, Louisville, Lansing and North Carolina symphony orchestras. The evening also includes an exhibit of the art of Jacksonville native sculptor and painter Alisha Lewis. Doors: 6:45 p.m. The event is free to attend. More info.

Elena Øhlander: Objects of Innocence
The Lark | Downtown Jacksonville
An exhibit of new works by multi-disciplinary visual artist Elena Øhlander is on view at the Lark in Downtown Jacksonville. In Objects of Innocence, the Jacksonville-based artist uses mixed-media illustrations to explore the influence of objects, curiosity and childhood play on identity. Leading a stellar trio that includes the multi-instrumentalist and composer Jason Marsalis on drums, renowned pianist and Jacksonville native Marcus Roberts joins the Jacksonville Symphony and Music Director Laureate of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Robert Spano for a program that includes Gershwin’s Concerto in F, Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and Carlos Simon’s 2024 composition Motherboxx Connection. Studio Practice: Abstract mixed-media

Led by locally based visual artist and designer Brit Webber, the latest MOCA Jax workshop features an introduction to abstract mixed-media. You’ll go home with your own framed work of abstraction from an assortment of provided materials — like acrylic paint, charcoal, graphite and toned paper.
