A former Putnam County teacher is under arrest after nude photos of a former student were found on his computer, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Gus Devereaux was jailed Friday on three counts of possession of obscene material depicting a child in sexual conduct, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was arrested as he went to work at Lawtey Correction Institution, where teaches GED classes to adult inmates.

The investigation into Devereaux, 54, began in November after photos of a former Interlachen Junior-Senior High School student were found on his laptop, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The former student identified the photos, saying that they had been taken when the victim was Devereaux’s student in ninth grade, the Sherif’s Office says.
The student said that they were not sent specifically to Devereaux and that he did not take them. The Sheriff’s Office did not say how Devereaux got the photos.

Devereaux left the school in early 2023 in lieu of termination in connection with another school investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
He remains held on $300,000 bail in the Bradford County jail, awaiting extradition to Putnam County.
