Duval-based artist and arts educator Dustin Harewood carries a vibrant, tropical palette across his abstract and representational paintings and mixed-media works. On Friday, Harewood presents an exhibition of new works, Animal Flowers on Wood and Paper, at the locally focused Share Art Gallery. The opening runs from 6-9 p.m. It’s free to attend. More info

On Friday evening, narrative performance guru Barbara Colaciello’s popular monthly Bab’s Lab Story Slam series returns. Each member of the storyteller lineup will tell a five-minute story based on the prompt “table.” The audience votes for the winner. Reception at 7:15 p.m. Slam starts at 8 p.m. Tickets:$17. Family Day Block Party

In the midst of its centennial anniversary celebration, the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville presents a free family-friendly block party on Saturday. Kid-friendly activities, art projects, live performances are all on offer within the museum, along Laura Street and in James Weldon Johnson Park; and it’s all free. It’s also a great opportunity to view MOCA’s current slate of exhibitions. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. More info.
