More drink choices coming at Clay County Fairgrounds

Your drink options are expanding for events at the Clay County Fairgrounds.

County commissioners voted Tuesday to allow the sale of canned cocktails during events with 500 or more people. Previously, only beer and wine sales were allowed during large events.

Commissioner Mike Cella sees the change as an economic boon for businesses that operate during events there.

“It actually enhances, I think, the ability for these groups making money, and most of them all are in a nonprofit kind of a vein in terms of giving out scholarships or helping nonprofits in the county. So, from that standpoint I’m fully in favor of it,” Cella said.

This change comes just before some big events at the fairgrounds, including the Northeast Florida Scottish Games later this month and the Clay County Fair in April.
