St. Johns County residents will have a new trash hauler

After 20 years with the same two waste management companies, St. Johns County is moving to a new provider, and the cost to residents is expected to increase by $170 over the next five years.

St. Johns County Commissioners on Tuesday voted 4-1 to award a $28.2 million contract to FCC Environmental Services to take over trash pickup for the entire county. Commissioner Krista Joseph was the only person to vote against the change.
