Everything from police cars and SWAT units to fire engines and even garbage trucks will swarm to the Clay County Fairgrounds on Saturday as the annual Touch-A-Truck event rumbles to life.
Organizers said this year’s free event, set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., promises to bring together everything that moves Clay, from county departments and services to nonprofit and public safety agencies.
That includes construction equipment and maybe even a medical helicopter.
Dozens of service vehicles will be set up at the fairgrounds at 2497 Florida 16 in Green Cove Springs. Children can climb inside them, with deputies, firefighters and others there to answer questions.
The event includes a quiet time from 9 to 11 a.m., for children who do not like loud noises, organizers said. Then the lights and sirens as well as horns, engines and fire hoses will be demonstrated through 2 p.m.
Along with dozens of service vehicles parked on the fairgrounds, children and families will have food trucks, activities and giveaways, alongside booths from county departments, organizations and other Clay County groups that serve the community.
